A postdoctoral researcher position is available in a USDA-NIFA funded project in the School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences at Louisiana State University. The position is focused on unravelling the molecular mechanisms and developing high yielding breeding lines for improved tolerance to salinity, drought, and heat stresses in rice. Primary responsibilities include analysis of phenotypic, whole genome sequencing and RNA-sequencing, and metabolomic data in multiple mapping populations and rice diversity panel generated by the all collaborating researchers in the project. The successful candidate will also be responsible for designing experiments to apply next generation sequencing technology for QTL cloning and trait discovery. The candidate must have experience in applying of genomics, molecular biology, and bioinformatic tools for crop improvement.
A PhD in plant bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biology, genetics, or a related discipline and a strong publication record. The prospective candidate should be a strong team player with excellent communication, problem-solving and leadership skills, and interest in mentoring students.
Application deadline is March 15, 2023 or until a suitable candidate is found. This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through March 31, 2027. Continuation will be dependent on job performance, project requirement, and availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
