The Pennsylvania Office Director will help expand our work in the region while providing managerial and technical support in other states throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The director will report to the Executive Director to ensure that the Pennsylvania office has a progressive growth plan to expand the mission and project work of the Center for Watershed Protection. This position requires an individual with excellent communication and organizational skills; extensive experience in management and supervision; leadership in stakeholder and public meetings; and familiarity with best management practices that span the agricultural and urban sectors including knowledge of and experience with Chesapeake Bay Program BMP protocols, especially for stream restoration. The individual should have an established network of relationships with state and local governments throughout Pennsylvania and a proven record of progressive responsibility, management, and supervision. This position will require some travel and field work, especially within the state and regionally, but also to other parts of the country. While flexibility in the type of work the individual performs is expected to ensure that an office is run smoothly, the following is a list of potential projects and duties that this position is expected to conduct.
Supervise 2 or more individuals
Work directly with the Executive Director to develop and plan to grow the PA office and develop budgets and associated work
Lead the hiring of additional staff in PA as needed and coordinate work activities with other individuals and offices
Become of the “face” of the Pennsylvania office, representing the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events important to expand the organization as a regional leader
Develop a plan of interaction with the main office that includes time to ensure the activities in PA complement the rest of CWP’s activities
Provide team participation, oversight, management, and leadership in varying capacities on technical projects represented by federal, state, and local clients as well as nonprofits.
Work directly to plan workloads and provide direct support for trainings and projects as needed.
Work with ED and other directors to manage client interactions, work efficiently on project accounting issues, and prioritize projects.
Develop a plan to secure $500,000 - $1,000,000 worth of funding per year of work.
Secure and/ or assist in securing at least $300,000 worth of work in the first year of employment.
Support the ED in providing reports, information, etc. as requested
Support activities related to reporting on the strategic plan as requested
Have a strong understanding of the Center’s capabilities
Participate actively in management and organizational activities as requested by the ED
Participate in leadership and workload meetings
Be an active participant in helping to maintain and create a positive and productive culture of the organization
