The Purugganan lab at NYU Biology is looking for a highly motivated and independent individual to work as a Postdoctoral Associate.
This position is for a post-PhD trainee preparing for a research scientist career path. The planned position will provide a transition to career independence through the development of professional skills; supervision by senior scientist incorporating individual development plan in support of training goals and those of faculty mentor; and publication of research findings/scholarship during postdoc appointment period.
Projects in the Purugganan lab work on functional genomics and systems biology of rice ecosystem adaptation. Planned projects use field experiments, large-scale phenotyping and RNA sequencing, and computational analyses. The position is based in the NYU Center for Genomics and Systems Biology, in downtown Manhattan and will be part of a thriving research community that includes colleagues working on a broad range of topics. You can see more information on the laboratory at www.plantevolgen.org. Part of the work will also take place at the International Rice Research Institute in the Philippines, so the ability and desire to travel internationally is essential.
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD, have prior research experience using molecular biology/genomic techniques and computational approaches, and a track record of peer-reviewed publications. Candidates should have a strong record of research productivity, able to work semi-independently, and are interested in working across field experiments, large-scale genome data acquisition and computational analyses.
Please upload your application materials via Interfolio. Include the following items: 1) CV including a list of publications; 2) a short summary of your present and future research interests; 3) a list of three references and their contact information.
