IU Biology is nationally recognized as an outstanding integrated and unified department. With 50 tenure-track faculty members, research interests span cell and developmental biology, molecular biology, genomics, ecology, evolution, microbiology, and plant biology. Outstanding core facilities housed within the department include the Light Microscopy Imaging Center, the Electron Microscopy Center, Flow Cytometry Core Facility, Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center, Drosophila Genomics Resource Center, FlyBase, Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics, state-of-the-art greenhouses and the IU Herbarium with over 161,000 specimens. We provide undergraduate and graduate students access to the full breadth of the exciting and dynamic fields within the biological sciences.
