The Engineering Analyst 1 reports to Engineering Leadership and whose focus is performing routine analysis functions which require the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of engineering analysis tasks. This position requires a moderate to high level of supervision; most work is still reviewed by a more senior engineer. In addition, this level has limited contact with Customers and Suppliers.
Works assigned tasks to meet schedule and may coordinate details with other departments.
Perform analysis of basic components with guidance. Performs basic analysis using established methods. Recognizes problems which are beyond capabilities and is learning from the experts in the area.
Learns from more senior analysts and engineers. Participates in peer and design reviews.
Assists with the development of department and organization procedures.
Interacts with internal departments to identify and mitigate design risks associated with their analysis discipline.
Creates analysis models, to support robust and reliable designs.
Writes internal reports and presentations. May author content for customers when directly reviewed by a more senior Analyst or Engineer.
May perform basic documentation, investigation, research, data reduction tasks to support more senior analysts and engineers.
Supports failure investigations.
Perform reliability analysis and predictions of moderately complex components, subsystems and software in accordance with MIL-STD-785, or similar.
May perform maintainability analysis and predictions of moderately complex components and subsystems in accordance with MIL-HDBK-472, or similar.
Collect and organize product failure data from multiple sources. Perform safety analysis in support of product development of moderately complex components and subsystems in accordance with MIL-STD-882, or similar.
Support test readiness reviews.
Materials and Equipment Used:
PC and related equipment.
Basic ability to understand and interpret government, industry and Woodward technical standards including quality system standards and PLC process.
Basic understanding of component function and testing. Learn to interpret engineering data and drawings pertinent to focus role area.
Basic use of DFSS tools and methodologies; Basic knowledge of engineering quality systems (PLC, engineering change, configuration management).
Ability to operate in the project team environment.
Basic use and understanding of computer aided engineering tools for reliability and maintainability prediction; fault tree analysis, failure modes and effects analysis.
Education or Formal Training:
Bachelor's degree in a Technical/Science or International equivalent required.
No professional experience required.
Internship in related industry desired.
