Two positions will be filled from this applicant pool as an Engineer III, IV or Professional Engineer based on applicant’s qualifications
Job Summary:
This is professional engineering work in water resource, environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural, or other related fields of engineering.
Job duties include:
Reviews the engineering portion of the larger and/or more complex applications for Environmental Resource Permits (ERPs) and Sovereign Submerged Lands (SSL). Provides assistance as needed in the review of Consumptive Use Permits (CUPs). Responsibilities include review of construction plans/drawings, calculations, data, legal documents, and hydrologic modeling to determine if projects meet District’s criteria for water quality and flood protection; preparing technical staff reports and letters; conducting pre-application meetings including meeting to assist consultants in developing and completing their application through the design review process; coordinating the review of projects with other review team members and supervisors, as necessary; documenting project actions, activities, and pertinent information in e-Reg; communicating regularly with supervisor on projects of heightened concern.
Reviews the engineering portion of moderately complex compliance and enforcement projects, to evaluate conformance with District’s rules and issued permits. Responsibilities include conducting periodic site inspections during and upon completion of project construction/implementation to monitor system conditions; evaluating compliance submittals; reviewing and evaluating monitoring reports; responding to complaints and public information requests pertaining to rule violations; facilitating resolutions to non-compliance issues; performing permit determinations; writing technical reports and enforcement actions; reviewing legal documents and coordinating with legal staff; coordinating with other compliance team members and supervisors, as necessary; documenting compliance actions, activities and pertinent information in e-Reg; communicating regularly with the supervising engineer, compliance coordinator on compliance matters of heightened concern.

Base Salary:
Engineer III - $53,414.40
Engineer IV - $57,678.40
Professional Engineer - $57,678.40

Minimum Qualifications:
Engineer III requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering and four years engineering experience directly related to the field in which the position is assigned.
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering can be substituted for one year of the required experience.
A doctorate from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, or water resource engineering can substitute for two years of the required experience.
Engineer IV requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering and six years engineering experience directly related to the field in which the position is assigned; or registration by the State of Florida as a professional engineer.
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering can be substituted for one year of the required experience.
A doctorate from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, or water resource engineering can substitute for two years of the required experience.
Professional Engineer requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering, and registration by the State of Florida as a Professional Engineer.

About St. Johns River Water Management District
Florida is divided into five water management districts to preserve and manage Florida’s precious water resources. The St. Johns River Water Management District is responsible for managing groundwater and surface water resources in all or part of 18 counties in northeast and east?central Florida. Counties entirely in the district are Brevard, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Nassau, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns and Volusia. Counties partially in the district are Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Lake, Marion, Okeechobee, Orange and Osceola. District staff work from service centers in Palatka, Jacksonville, Maitland and Palm Bay.
