Tekfor USA is looking for a diversified Quality Engineer with proven experience supporting Tier 1 automotive customers. This includes all aspects of APQP product launches, Quality System development/maintenance, continuous improvement/problem solving and supporting daily operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
APQP/PPAP/Product Launch
Directs the internal APQP/PPAP process for assigned product lines
Translates engineering drawings into APQP project plans including technical reviews, failure analysis, gage selection, inspection plans, supplier PPAP, process controls and process validation.
Provides for full gage concept, design and build of custom gages as needed for product launch. Solidworks experience is preferred.
Performs capability studies (machine/process/gage/product) to validate the implementation of robust manufacturing processes.
Coordinates the implementation of the necessary process controls to ensure that optimal process capability is maintained throughout the life of the product cycle.
Problem Solving/Continual Improvement
Works with management, supervisors, operators and other technical staff to resolve customer issues, scrap and internal product rejections.
Utilizes cross-functional team approach in determining root cause analysis and corrective and preventative actions to preclude recurrence.
Identifies corrective actions at the process, detection and systemic levels.
Works independently and with other team or department members to develop and improve product and processes, to reduce process variability and increase robustness throughout the manufacturing process
Quality System Maintenance
Performs assignments in the development and maintenance of the Quality System.
Assists in or performs system, process, product and supplier audits.
Daily Support
Responds to internal and external customer inquiries regarding quality issues.
Interacts with suppliers and customers on a technical level in order to have a clear understanding of relevant needs and concerns.
Makes decisions for product conformity as it directly relates to product function.
Responds to gate alarm/ fast response issues in a timely fashion
Create reports, analyze data, and present key findings to management as required
Approve/reject new production and existing production changes within assigned area
Organize and present data to management for decision making including but not limited to creating reports via Microsoft Office
Provides training to Quality Technicians and part certifiers, machine operators, in-process auditors and anyone else with a direct responsibility for product quality.
Qualifications (Other than as described above)
B.S. Engineering
5-7 years' experience in a quality engineering role or equivalent experience
Experience supporting product launches and direct customer interface required
High volume automotive manufacturing experience preferred
Experience with CNC machining, cold forming and forging processes preferred
Project management skills including the ability to identify project scope, determine executable action plans, and project monitoring
Understand problem solving techniques such as 5Y, 8D, and root cause analysis
Ability to review and interpret GD&T standards
Demonstrated ability with hands on focus ("line-side")
Knowledge of quality related statistics and data analysis
Knowledge of quality systems such as IATF and ISO standards
Strong interpersonal skills including good verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with gage functions and calibrations
