The International Water Institute (IWI) seeks a seasoned, collaborative and results-orientated Program Manager / Research Associate to lead our Stewardship Program and support research within our Center for Applied Research and Decision Support (CARDS). The Program Manager will continue to develop our Stewardship Program working with a team of professionals and agricultural producers. The Program Manager’s role will primarily involve implementing an innovative approach to quantify agricultural stewardship at watershed scales and working closely with the IWI Research Director, staff, agricultural producers, project team members and partners.
The Program Manager / Research Associate will also identify contribute to CARDS by developing and executing applied research projects, to fulfill the mission of the IWI, including preparing project proposals, scopes of work and budgets. Out of state travel will be necessary, but not on a daily basis. The position will be based out of the IWI office in Fargo, North Dakota.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
Analyze agricultural producer limitations and develop innovative solutions for profitable conservation using precision agriculture tools.
Work collaboratively with the IWI Research Director and the project team.
Identify and communicate objectives and coordinate activities with project team members and consultants.
Lead problem-solving and monitor project progress.
Prepare scope of work and related budgets.
Manage budgets and maintain cost awareness.
Prepare oral and written reports.
Engage and recruit project partners and participants.
REQUIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree (Doctorate preferred) in water resources science, soil science, agronomy, engineering, natural resource management, or related field.
Demonstrated background in successful program management.
Documented research background via peer-reviewed publications.
Excellent leadership skills.
Working knowledge of agronomics and farm management principles.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
