The Department of Biology offers BSc (Hons) in Applied Biology, MPhil, and PhD degrees in Biological Sciences and Environmental Sciences. The Department places a strong emphasis on both quality education and scholarly research/services.
The Department of Biology is recruiting tenure-track faculty member in the following area:
Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (Plant Molecular Biology and Crop Improvement) (PR382/17-18)
Applicants should have a PhD degree in biology or related fields with postdoctoral training, have a demonstrated record of outstanding research publications and commit to excellence in teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Candidates who use cutting-edge approaches and model plant/crop species to address basic biological processes in plants and/or to apply the knowledge for crop improvement are highly desirable.
The appointee is expected to develop strong externally-funded research programmes, and committed to excellence in teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
This is a tenure-track position with initial appointment to be made on fixed-term contract of three years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Tenure is expected to be attained within six years.
